Fasting is defined as the abstinence from all or some foods or drinks for a set period, there are many ways of fasting. Fasting has been shown to have many health benefits, from increased weight loss to better brain function. There are several types of fasting such as water fasting which Involves drinking only water for a set amount of time, Juice fasting entail only drinking vegetable or fruit juice for a certain period Intermittent fasting which is partially or completely restricted for a few hours up to a few days at a time and a normal diet is resumed on other days. Daniel fast found in the book of Daniel (Daniel 10:12-13) where he fasted for 21days eating only fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. There are physical and spiritual benefits of fasting.

Spiritual sensitivity to
hear God as fasting subdues the flesh so that the spirit man is more
dominant. Spiritual strength (will
strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a
spring whose waters never fail Isaiah 58:11)
If you deny yourself the natural,
you get strengthened in the supernatural
Fasting helps break addictions
(Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of
injustice and untie the cords of the yoke,
to
set the oppressed free and break every yoke? (Isaiah 58:6).
Supernatural Restoration: (Your
people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old
foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of
Streets with Dwellings Isaiah 58:12).
Answered prayer
(Then you will call, and the LORD will
answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I Isaiah 58:9).
Supernatural
guidance and direction (The LORD will
guide you always Isaiah58:11)
Spiritual
and Physical healing (Then your light
will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your
righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your
rear guard (Isaiah 58:8).
The 1st day is always the hardest day, but getting though it is good for your spirtiual and physical state.
